Djokovic to ask for medical exemption to play in Australia, according to Serbian media

Novak Djokovic aun has not clarified or made any official communication about his participation in the Australian Open, the first big of the season that takes place from January 17 to 30. The number one in the world must comply with the anti-Covid protocol, but his suspicion regarding vaccination makes the world of tennis pending Nole’s decision. An alternative, in case of not receiving the dose, would be to have a medical exemption and, according to Serbian media, that is the alternative that they would be evaluating to travel to Australia for the first big date of the year. If that request was accepted, the Serbian could attend the Grand Slam without being vaccinated, but if, on the contrary, it were denied, the leader of the ranking would not be able to defend the title achieved in 2021.

Because that exemption must be justified. You could benefit from these alternative permits to vaccines, with assumptions that include heart disease inflammatory (myocarditis, pericarditis …), acute or insufficiency, acute rheumatic fever, serious medical conditions, infection confirmed by PCR or any adverse event attributed to a previous administration, as well as the risk for people with developmental or mental health disorders.

Such requests, which have been ensured to be completely anonymous, must be reviewed by a government panel made up of doctors and experts. In addition, both for entry into the country and to be in the country, players must undergo a PCR test that determines that they are not infected (which will be repeated every five or seven days). At the moment, there is no official information on what decision Djokovic has made, nor when he will move to Australia, since for On the ocean tour, 20 charter flights had been chartered, transferring players to Australia for both the Open and the ATP Cup, which for terms (begins on January 1) seems already ruled out for Nole.
