These are the games that inspire darts fans: World champion Gerwyn Price delivered an extremely close and open duel against Kim Huybrechts – with a happy ending for the “Iceman”.

What a fight: Defending champion Gerwyn Price has survived the next tricky World Cup game and is making it to the round of 16. The Welshman, not exactly a crowd favorite, defeated the Belgian Kim Huybrechts in an extremely exciting game 4: 3. As in his second round game against England’s Ritchie Edhouse, Price fell behind, this time with 1: 2 sets. He was then on the verge of failure in several situations.

The champion then won the fiercely contested decision set, which was marked by many mistakes, with 6: 5 legs. Shortly after the end of the nerve-wracking game, the two rivals even clashed on stage. The former rugby professional Price built himself up demonstratively and loudly in front of the fans after successful throws. His appearance was accompanied by loud boos and whistles.

In the round of the last 16, he has to deal with the Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode, who works on an eggplant farm every day. Making it to the round of 16 is enough for him to remain number one in the world on the day after the World Cup final. Even if the Scottish runner-up Peter Wright won the title, Price would just about defend the top spot.
