Covid-19: the vaccine pass will apply to high-level athletes

No exceptions for the world of sport, whether professional or amateur. The vaccination pass will apply to everyone, the authorities recalled Monday evening. “Subject to Parliament adopting the change from the health pass to a vaccination pass, this pass will apply to high-level athletes”, told RMC Sport the entourage of Roxana Maracineanu, the delegate minister in charge of sports.

This measure, which must come into force on January 15 (if the bill is passed by Parliament) and replace the health pass, will force the last unvaccinated athletes to do so. Note that it will apply to all club stakeholders, including volunteers.

“Government decisions are meant to protect and stem the double wave. I salute the responsibility and resilience of the sports world, which can be proud of having contributed to the mass vaccination of the French. Let’s hold 3 weeks together. The state will be by your side, ”the minister said on Twitter.

The sports sector, like that of culture and catering, has been strongly affected by the new basket of measures unveiled by the government to curb the epidemic outbreak caused by the Omicron variant. From next Monday, and for at least three weeks, the sports arenas will not be able to accommodate more than 2,000 people indoors and 5,000 people outdoors. Refreshments are prohibited.
