Promoted head coach since Billy Donovan’s isolation, Chris Fleming is very close to Coby White. For three years, the leader has worked daily with the former Germany coach and the two have developed a relationship of trust based above all on hard work and hard work.
“He’s a coach the hard way”, described the leader. “He doesn’t really tell you what you want to hear, but rather what you need to hear. He’s a straightforward guy. If you do something right, he will say it. If you’re on detention, he’ll make it clear to you. And if you can do something better too, he’s going to tell you. This is my third season here and he has been my personal coach since I arrived. With him, we have therefore developed this relationship which allows us to be sincere with each other, to have a real conversation between men and to be able to continue our day ”.
After a difficult start to the season between the end of the rehabilitation of his shoulder injury, a passage through the Covid-19 box and a role to be found in a reshaped team, Coby White begins to find his sensations, and the presence of Chris Fleming as the main coach could only help him to play more liberated.
More rhythm = less blues
The absence of Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso allowed him to find the five major in three games, and Coby White delivered his best performance, 17 points and 12 assists, when receiving Atlanta (131-117).
“We talked a lot with Coby about the season, his shoulder injuries, the Covid, his job changes. But I also think it’s a question of rhythm. He must find some rhythm. He shared the ball very well this evening ”, for his part said Chris Fleming.
“The more I play, the easier it will be” had also confirmed the person after signing his best offensive game since his return ten days ago against Houston (24 points). The sequel confirmed it since he chained two games more than 30 minutes behind against Atlanta, including 35 minutes in the last game.
While the presence of Chris Fleming may have bolstered him in his abilities for a week, the process that will bring him back to his best level is simply following its course.
“I feel like I’m improving. I just feel like I need to be able to move on. For me, it’s just about keeping going to the gym and playing with the new ones, with the major players and being the best possible asset for my team ”Coby White added. “I know who I am as a player. I know that I can bring a lot of things to the field besides being able to score. I will continue to be myself ”.
