Carolina Marín registered to play the Badminton World Cup in Huelva

The Olympic champion and the three-time world champion Carolina Marín is registered in the list of participants of the Badminton World Cup that will be held in Huelva from December 12 to 19 at the Sports Palace that bears her name. The figure of Carolina Marín was one of the great protagonists of the ceremony in which the game tables were drawn. The Huelva-born rushes the deadlines to return to the courts after his knee injury, is the fourth seed and enters directly into the round of 32. Of course, she has been framed in the upper part of the table together with Tzu Ying, current world number one and one of the great favorites to win the world title, and could find herself in the round of 16 with the tenth in the world, Michelle Li, and in the quarters against He Bing Jao (8), as reported by the Spanish Badminton Federation on its official website.

Worse luck has yet Clara Azurmendi, the second Spanish in the women’s individual table. The Donostiarra will make her debut against Evgeniya Kosetskaya, number 26 in the ranking, and in case of going to the second round she would face Tai Tzu Ying. The history between Azurmendi and Kosetskaya is 2-1 favorable for the Russian, although it should not be taken into account that they have not seen faces since 2017 and the Spanish has made an important leap in her results in this last year. On the other side of the table, it stands out that Akane Yamaguchi (2) can face Qi Xuefei or Line Kjaersfeldt in the second round, while Nozomi Okuhara (3) will debut against the winner of the duel between Zhang Yi Man and Cheung Ngan Yi.

In the men’s singles table, the world champion in 2019 and current number one in the ranking, Kento Momota, will make his debut against Michal Rogalski and could meet Olympic semifinalist Kevin Cordón in the second round. More complicated will be the Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen (2), who has fallen on the same side of the table as his compatriot Anders Antonsen (3). In any case, Axelsen can face Chou Tien Chen (4) or Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (5) on his way to the final, while Antonsen (3) can be seen Lee Zii Jia (6).
