Can I prevent the tragedy of “lost my throwing form” in professional baseball, which surprised me with “a ruthless out-of-force notification” and “Yips …”? –Professional Baseball –Number Web

The author who has interviewed many amateur players all over the country as a “nagashi bullpen catcher”. This year’s “Professional Baseball Tryout 2021” was also interviewed locally. What kind of discomfort do I feel during the “out-of-force notification” period, and what do I want to propose?

Hiroo Kataoka, a long-time scout for the Yakult Swallows (later the director of the scout), died on December 6th.

I’m surprised that many people who are really important to me died this fall and winter. “Onihei” Nakamura Kichiemon, Setouchi Jakucho, Takeshi Koba, former Hiroshima director … Mr. Kataoka is one of them.

Mr. Kataoka also appeared in my book “Scout Soul” (Daily Sports Publishing Co., Ltd.) during his lifetime, and over thirty pages, he talked about his time in his current position.

Among them, there are still some scenes that are memorable.

It was when the story reached “out of force”.

“Well, no one knows what’s ahead of humans. Scouts bring players, but no one really knows if they can be used. It would be better to hire a great fortune-teller from somewhere and see the players. “

Until then, Mr. Kataoka, who had been dealing with me in a joke-like, humorous tone, suddenly changed his tone, so I was surprised.

“The responsibility of the player who got sick, if you ask me one by one, there will be no one who will do scouts.

Even though I didn’t ask questions or intend to do that, I thought that people would identify people because of such a tingling reaction … I thought they were trying to convey the difficulty and limitations of scouting.

“It’s Yips …”

In this off, many players received “out-of-force notification” from 12 teams.

In many cases, a trained player whose contract has expired for three years has been notified once to be out of force due to a re-contract, but the rest is for other reasons … that is, “dismissal”.

After more than 5 years and 10 years of professional baseball life, if you are “out of force”, you will be able to demonstrate your strength and not be able to do it. It will be a thing. However, if you do not reach that year and retire due to a breakdown or lack of ability, you may have some regrets and regrets.

As the off-season approaches every year, the out-of-force notification is performed like a “ritual,” but each time I feel a certain sense of incongruity.

A few years ago, this happened just at the time of the out-of-force notification.
