Will this striker be Haaland’s successor at BVB?
Like the Portuguese newspaper Record reported, Borussia Dortmund is dealing with goalscorer Darwin Nunez (22). The Uruguayan is currently causing a sensation with eleven goals in 16 competitive games for Benfica Lisbon. BILD knows: In the event of a departure from storm star Erling Haaland (21), Nunez could actually become a hot topic in Dortmund.
BVB is actually doing everything it can to secretly plan the search for a Haaland replacement. In Portugal, however, a photo appeared on Wednesday that is fueling the rumors about Nunez. Record published a picture showing BVB chief scout Markus Pilawa and Nunez advisor Edgardo Lasalvia standing arm in arm.
BVB is not alone in courting for Nunez. The “Urus” international is also associated with Atlético Madrid and AC Milan in Portugal. The meeting between Lasalvia and Pilawa also took place in Milan. Dortmund’s chief scout is currently in Italy, often holding talks with consultants in the context of possible transfers in order to obtain information. However, it rarely appears in public – unlike in this case.
The catch: Nunez is under contract with Benfica until 2025. The center forward has an exit clause. However, this is 150 million euros – much too high for BVB. And: The Dortmunders still have hope that they can keep superstar Haaland in the Ruhr region beyond the summer.
