Mighty Bryson DeChambeau has released a great second map to take command of the Hero World Challenge, but the pack is near.
Discreet during the first round, “the mad scientist” showed what he was capable of this Friday in the Bahamas. Bryson DeChambeau collected birdies (10 in total) on this par 72 which has the distinction of having five par 5s (and as many par 3s).
The winner of the US Open 2020 still conceded a double-bogey at the 16th, the only mistake on the day, quickly caught up with a splendid iron kick at the 17th for his tenth birdie of the day. The American took the lead with a card of 64 (-8) to -11 total.

Morikawa for glory
Despite his incredible card, DeChambeau did not take off in the standings. Collin Morikawa, who is looking for a victory to obtain the world number 1 place, is only one stroke after his 66 (-6). If this event does not count for the FedEx Cup, it does count for the world ranking.
It is also the position of the leader’s great enemy, Brooks Koepka. We were not far from having a remake of The Match, but the quadruple winner in Major missed the birdie at 16. He still signed a second 67 (-5) on Friday. A third man occupies this second place, Tony Finau. The American achieved one of the exploits of the day with the first birdie of the week at 18, for a card of 66 (-6).

The top 10 in 5 points
The rest of the pack is not far either. Half the field (so ten players) is held in just five lengths. Eighth at -7, Rory McIlroy Could have hoped for better but he cracked on the 14. On this very small par 4 where the majority of players birdied, the Northern Irishman had a six-meter putt to imitate his comrades. But with a monumental load, he came off the green and conceded a heavy double-bogey.
