Bronze for David and the innkeeper. The Czechs finished third at the exhibition in Ruhpolding

Biathletes Markéta Davidová and Michal Krčmář finished third in the traditional post-Christmas exhibition of mixed pairs in Germany and were the third Czech pair to take the podium.

The Austrians Lisa Hauser and Felix Leitner won the Ruhpolding substitute venue. The Czech couple were preceded by Yevgeny Burtasov and Matvey Yeliseyev.

After the opening race with a mass start, Davidová and Krčmář figured with eight wrong shots out of forty in a competition of ten pairs in fifth place. Janina Hettichová and Erik Lesser led the flawless home team, but they did not keep the lead in the second part of the exhibition.

The Czechs found themselves in eighth place in the fighter for a while, but they managed the ending perfectly. Thanks to accurate shooting, they moved higher. Four laps before the end, they went third with the Russian and Italian pairs, and two laps before the finish they were just ahead of the Russians. Hettich had to take three penalty laps after the last stand, David aimed precisely and suddenly went second before Russia. However, the innkeeper missed twice and let Yeliseyev in front of him, after which he passed the finish line by three seconds.

The best Czech result is the second two places, in which Ondřej Moravec participated. Silver was in 2015 with Gabriela Koukalová and in 2017 with Eva Puskarčíková.

As last year, the coronavirus exhibition could not take place in the traditional venue at the Schalke football stadium in Gelsenkirchen.
