KOMPAS.com – Indonesian men’s singles badminton athlete, Jonatan Christie, was happy because the government had given an appreciation in the form of bonuses to the team that won the 2020 Thomas Cup.
Jojo, as he is familiarly called, thanked President Joko Widodo and Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali for their appreciation of the athletes.
“Praise God, thank you Mr. Jokowi and Mr. Menpora for the award for us athletes. And grateful that other sports have also received the awards they deserve,” wrote the man who is familiarly called Jojo through his personal Instagram account, Monday (12/27/2021).
Jojo will also fulfill his vow some time ago. If he gets a bonus from the winner of the 2021 Thomas Cup, he will give a bonus of 50 percent to the former athlete. which is still lacking.
“Some time ago I vowed that if I get an award from the government and according to the distribution I get later, I want to give 50 percent of the award I get to former athletes who may now have less or less fortunate lives. now, “he wrote on the upload screen.

Previously, the Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenpora RI) gave appreciation and bonuses to the Indonesian team that won the 2020 Thomas Cup.
This appreciation in the form of a bonus was given directly by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali at the Wisma Kemenpora Auditorium, Monday (27/12) afternoon.
This Rp 10 billion bonus was received by the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), Agung Firman Sampurna.
In addition to appreciation for the 2020 Thomas Cup team, Menpora Amali also handed over a bonus to the Asian Youth Games team of Rp. 5 billion which was received directly by the Secretary General of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Ukun Rukaendi.
Furthermore, Menpora Amali also presented an appreciation in the form of a bonus to the World Weightlifting Championship team in the amount of Rp. 1.25 billion which was received directly by the Secretary General of the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI), Djoko Pramono.
On this occasion, Menpora Amali said that the government really pays attention to athletes and sports.
This is evidenced by the appreciation of the bonus. According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, the awarding of this bonus was late because his party had to follow the rules related to the use of state finances.
“The government and the state really pay attention to (athletes), they just can’t feel grusu (withdrawing bonuses), because there are rules (laws),” he said.
In addition to giving appreciation in the form of bonuses to the three sports, on this occasion, Menpora Amali gave the Satya Lancana Dharma Sport award to athletes who excel in the Olympics and international events.
The athletes who received the Satyalancana Dharma Sport award include Tri Kusharjanto (Badminton), Sonny Dwi Kuncoro (Badminton), Eng Hian (Badminton), Ni Nengah Widiasih (Weightlifting) and Coni Ruswanta (Weight Lifting Coach).
The Minister of Youth and Sports also congratulated the award recipients and achievements. He hopes that they can improve their achievements, both those who are already coaches and those who are still athletes.
“I congratulate the recipients of the Satya Lencana Dharma Sport. Hopefully they can show their achievements,” he hoped.
