Berkan B towards Piombino, Fagioli launches the idea of removing all the carts. THE PHOTOS

02 December 2021 – Ravenna – What remains of the Berkan B is sailing from the morning towards the port of Piombino where the 5 pieces into which the wreck is divided will be demolished.

The Amt Mariner barge, with the sections of the former merchant ship on board, hooked to the offshore tugboat Sea Dream, left the port around 11 am. Piomboni canal by two Sers tugs and then ‘entrusted’ to Sea Dream which will take about ten days to reach the Tuscan port.

The dismantling of the merchant vessel was carried out by Fagioli (on behalf of Consorzio Stabile Grandi Lavori which carries out the works of the Port Hub on behalf of the Adsp) with the subs of Marine Consulting. But the whole port collaborated in the success of the operation, under the control of the Port Authority.

Now it is not excluded that the same team may ‘clean up’ the planeass area from the presence of another 5 wrecks, which have been lying semi-submerged for some decades.
