Weißenfels (dpa) – The basketball players from Syntainics MBC were unable to collect any points in the fight against relegation. The Weißenfels team clearly lost their last home game of the year against Brose Baskets Bamberg on Wednesday with 86:98 (43:53). This means that the team from Saxony-Anhalt still only has two points ahead of the relegation zone. Christian Sengfelder (26) and Omar Prewitt (20) had the largest share in Bamberg’s success. Jamel Morris (21) and Nikola Rebic (18) scored the most points for the home side.

The Weißenfelsers were able to keep up until the end of the first quarter. But then Upper Franconia made a preliminary decision with a 12-0 run 19:18 (9th) to 31:18 (12th). The hosts managed to equalize again at 55:55 (23rd minute). But the Bamberg countered, pulled back to ten points by the end of the third quarter and, thanks to their superiority under the boards (46:35 rebounds), couldn’t take their 76:66 lead out of their hands.
