There will be no San Silvestre in Beasain on Friday. The Beti-Bizi society, organizer of this race that this year was going to reach the 47th edition, has decided this Monday afternoon to suspend it.

“The incidence rate of infections in Beasain is through the roof and we believe that, given the situation, the most logical thing is that San Silvestre is not celebrated, much to our regret,” the organizers of the popular Gipuzkoa confirmed to this newspaper. The famous race, the oldest and with the best record of all those that take place on December 31 in Gipuzkoa, was scheduled for Friday at 12 noon.

As is usual in the San Silvestre de Beasain, the prizes were going to be very sweet for the first classified in the 9,950 meters, with 1,200 euros for the winners in the male and female category.
