Arsenal defender Gabriel battles masked thief who tried to steal his £ 45,000 Mercedes

Arsenal defender Gabriel was attacked by a thief with a baseball bat during a robbery attempt in August. Gabriel and his friend were driving home after a night out and had just parked the car they were traveling in in the garage when the incident happened.

CCTV footage showed two thieves demanding a car key, cell phone and watch from Gabriel when he got out of his car. Abderaham Muse, one of the robbers, then attempted to attack the footballer with a baseball bat.

The footage showed the Arsenal star removing his watch and car keys from the forward who then pounced on him with the baseball bat. However, Gabriel punched Muse in the face, held him tight and then grabbed his hat before the thief managed to escape.

The DNA sample taken from the cap helped police identify Muse who was jailed for five years.

Judge Anupama Thompson said the “courageous actions” of those targeted by Muse ensured that no damage had been done.

“Although you (Muse) did not specifically target the victim because he was a well-known footballer, it was realized that this person was rich and deserved to be robbed,” she said. . “You saw a nice car and a nice house and I thought it was rich pickings. Fortunately, thanks to the courageous actions of the people you targeted, no further damage was done. ”

According to the Daily Mail, Muse has a history of convictions dating back to 2009. “You have a terrible record for a 26-year-old man. It was a horrific and frightening attack on a group of people who were just coming home from one night. outside, ”Thompson told Muse.
