Monday evening, at the Armendière gymnasium, a dozen children listen attentively to the advice of Paul Gouffé. Members of the Raiders of the Lost Bow, they practice archery with precision and concentration. The club, created in 1992, will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year and has been chaired for more than fifteen years by Paul, who has been training in the discipline for more than three decades.

Concentration, precision and patience

The club has around seventy licensees, ranging in age from 7 to 80 years old. Supervised by Adeline and Olivier, qualified coaches, they play either indoors in the gymnasium (shooting at 18 meters), or on an outdoor nature course, in the forest, very playful, the targets of which represent animals.

“Practicing archery does not require exceptional sporting qualities, nor to have an athletic physique,” ​​explains Paul. You have to be focused, precise and patient! And you can start at any age. “

Raiders of the Lost Bow have 30% of children who really enjoy the sport. Elouann, 9, has been practicing for two years with remarkable precision: “I like shooting arrows,” he confides. Cléa, also 9 years old, indicates that it was seeing her big cousin play that made her want to join the club a year ago.
