Archery athlete suffers car accident

SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS.- The Francomacorisana Archery Association (ASFRATA), informs all citizens and especially the brothers of the sport, that on the night of Thursday 23, our athlete José Eduardo Figueroa Madera had an accident in which he received multiple injuries to his leg right and there was the need to amputate him from the ankle down.

The young Figueroa Madera, was going from San Francisco de Macoris to Santiago, place of his residence and studies, when on the Duarte highway a dog crossed him and trying to avoid it, he lost control of the vehicle, sliding towards the shore and hitting a hoarding.

His condition is stable, his life is not in danger, however, due to the multiple injuries received, he must undergo a new surgery given the fact that the tibia and fibula are broken and according to the medical diagnosis he will need the implantation of nails .

The athlete Figueroa Madera, in the last award, before the Pandemic, of the Sports Union of the Duarte Province, directed by Héctor Castillo, was recognized for his merits, as athlete of the year of our Archery Association.
