AP: Shohei Ohtani is male athlete of the year

Shohei Ohtani was named Male Athlete of the Year.

This honor is awarded annually by The Associated Press.

Ohtani is not only Baseball Player of the Year, but Athlete of the Year in all sports. Honestly, I didn’t see anyone else winning this honor.

Yes, there are guys like Tom Brady, Mike Trout, and Connor McDavid who can be the Male Athlete of the Year every year, but 2021 has really been the season of the Japanese. And anyway, Mike Trout was injured in 2021.

As well as maintaining incredible batting stats, he was dominant on the mound. He also won the American League MVP. 46 home runs for a pitcher, that’s something that doesn’t happen often either …

I don’t know a lot of athletes who are able to throw 100 miles an hour and more and hit balls 110 miles an hour and more. The Angels super star is out of this world and it’s going to take a long time to see another baseball player emulate what he does.
