Marco Odermatt once again stood out during the second super-G of the season, still in Beaver Creek (USA). After his victory yesterday, the Nidwaldien took 2nd place this time, 3 hundredths behind the Norwegian Kilde.
Without taking anything away from Kilde’s performance, “Odi” had a lead of 0”29 after 40 seconds of racing. But a lack of precision on the end cost the Nidwalden the Nidwalden on the Birds of Prey – or the treble if we take the 2019 race.
Exceptional the day before on the final part of the layout, Odermatt this time had to hand over the limelight to Kilde by conceding 15 hundredths in the last 18 seconds of the race. Not a big deal for the leader of the general who once again took points from his rivals in the fight for the big globe.
The other Swiss further
Less comfortable than downhill, Travis Ganong (3rd) won his 1st podium in the discipline. The American unwittingly does Odermatt’s business by pushing Matthias Mayer, Vincent Kriechmayr and Alexis Pinturault back to places 4, 5 and 6.
The overall result of the Swiss is less brilliant than Thursday. Gino Caviezel took 9th place, Beat Feuz 14th and Loïc Meillard 20th. Like Thursday, the Hérémence skier made a mistake in the middle of the route.
