The Capitales de Québec announced the signing of two players on Monday, including Quebec second baseman David Glaude.

The third cushion player Jesse Hodges is the other athlete who got along with the formation of the Capitale-Nationale. The two men were members of the Quebec team during the 2021 season of the Frontier League.

Glaude had a great campaign with the club made up of elements from the Capitals and the Eagles of Trois-Rivières. He notably maintained a batting average of .308, in addition to hitting 13 homers and producing 75 points.

He was also the recipient of the Murray Zuk Prize, awarded annually to the best Canadian offensive player playing in an independent league.

“At the start of the season, I thought this was going to be my last year in professional baseball, but only four days after our last playoff game, I already knew I already wanted to come back and wear the Capitals colors. I look forward to being able to join my teammates again in order to bring the championship back to Quebec, ”said Glaude, in a press release from his organization.

In addition to the 27-year-old man, the Capitals include Quebecers Miguel Cienfuegos (pitcher) and Jonathan Lacroix (outfielder).

A “clutch” player

As far as Hodges is concerned, the manager of the Capitals, Patrick Scalabrini, is very happy to be able to count on the services of the man from British Columbia once again.

“Jesse is an emotional player who takes his team’s performance very seriously and puts it before his own stats. He’s dangerous and ‘clutch’ when it counts, as evidenced by his 50 RBIs last season, ”said Scalabrini.

Hodges is a former member of the Chicago Cubs organization and he wore the Capitals colors in 2019. Last year, he hit 66 hits, including seven homers, in 277 batting appearances.

In addition, the Quebec club indicated that Scalabrini was now working to “repatriate players from positions to expand its roster and ensure a good defense to assist its pitching staff.”
