83-100: Murcia knock down a decimated Gran Canaria – Basketball

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Dec 27 (EFE) .- UCAM Murcia once again took flight on the way to the Copa del Rey after winning a direct rival like Gran Canaria (83-100), decimated by casualties, which with this defeat adds up to five games without knowing the victory in the Endesa League.

With a 55% success in triples, the visiting team exhibited a solid game with hardly any cracks, highlighting among its offensive network a spectacular Isiah Taylor who finished with 31 points, thus deactivating the prominence among the yellows of AJ Slaughter (17 points), who also suffered the unfortunate percentage of theirs from the outside line (2/20).

In a brilliant start from Murcia, Taylor distilled his entire arsenal from the perimeter scoring the first 11 points for his team (10-11), offsetting the yellow squad with Kramer’s trays and Slaughter’s jump shots.

With the absence of Khalifa Diop due to Covid-19, and the usual casualties of Andrew Albicy and Artem Pustovyi -both of long duration-, the Claretian group was forced to redouble its efforts in painting with Oliver Stevic and Ilimane Diop, a mission that he managed to fulfill until the last bars of a first quarter of high figures that Murcia ended up scoring with a final arreón from the outside of McFadden (19-26).

In the second act, UCAM followed the same paths, with very high shooting percentages both in the zone and in the line of three, forcing the machine of a Gran Canaria in which soft-drink players such as Ennis and García assumed the baton. (29-34).

The former yellow Tomás Bellas began to carbure to strengthen the Murcian spill along with a plethora of Taylor -19 points in the first half- who was still at ease (31-42). Kramer and Salvo tried to cauterize the wound in the final stretch of the first half but to no avail. Lima and Webb put the bolt, extending the distance to rest to 12 points (37-49).

In the resumption, the exchange of blows intensified. Gran Canaria was trying with Slaughter assuming the baton, but in the visiting ranks everything worked at the forefront. Webb and McFadden fattened their stats as the distance on the electronic rose above the fortnight (53-70).

In the middle of the last period, the Claretians launched a new ordeal, with Shurna and Ennis assuming new stripes in attack and lowering the difference to nine points (68-77), but it was a mirage. Soon McFadden and Webb were back to land in between from the perimeter (69-83).

Despite the final reprimands of the team led by Porfirio Fisac, the truth is that the discreet percentage from the perimeter ended up stoning the locals (2/20 in triples) against a solid rival in all its lines (83-100).
