WHO chief warns: vaccines reduce transmission of the Delta variant by only 40 percent – knowledge

Pediatricians vehemently protest against a new obligation, according to which accompanying parents are only allowed to come into the practices with a negative test and the staff must be tested daily. The pediatricians are stunned by the medically nonsensical new regulation in the amended Infection Protection Act, which could lead to the closure of many practices, warned the professional association of paediatricians (BVKJ) in North Rhine-Westphalia.

“99 percent of our patients are accompanied by their parents,” said the BVKJ chairwoman of North Rhine-Westphalia, Christiane Thiele. Even if the parents were vaccinated, they would now have to submit a test before they are allowed into the pediatrician’s practice – or are tested there on site. In addition, the entire practice staff must be tested daily. “Most of them are boosted” – that is, three times vaccinated against the coronavirus. The “Rheinische Post” had previously reported.

The practices were only informed about the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians on Tuesday. “The KBV informed us of this yesterday evening, effective today,” said the pediatrician from Viersen. The paediatricians nationwide are on the barricades. There are also hardly any rapid tests available. Exceptions only apply to the patients themselves – i.e. the children – who do not have to be tested.

“If parents are only allowed to go to the practice with tests, i.e. over 100 people a day, this means that there is no time left for treatment and care of the children. It seems that politicians no longer even try to check laws and regulations that have been decided for their applicability in practice, ”criticized the BVKJ in NRW in a statement. The controversial law passed by the SPD, Greens and FDP last week must be changed as soon as possible. (dpa)
