NAfter the end of the Champions League, the next opponent in the Bundesliga is just right. At least statistically. BVB won all of the six most recent duels against VfL Wolfsburg. In addition, the black and yellow have been without conceding a goal against the factory club for nine games. This is the historically longest run to zero between two clubs in the Bundesliga.
And now there is news that could make another win on Saturday in Wolfsburg even more likely. Surprisingly, Erling Haaland is then in the squad. “We will also have Erling on the bus. He has developed well in the last few days, ”said coach Marco Rose on Friday before the trip to Lower Saxony.
Haaland was out for weeks due to a hip flexor injury. The Norwegian played his last game in the Bundesliga on October 16 in a 3-1 win against Mainz 05. Most recently, it was questionable whether the striker would be able to play a game at all this year. “It’s a bonus if he gets a few games before Christmas, but that’s pretty insecure,” said Haaland’s father Alf-Inge, who used to be a professional footballer himself.
“Maximum one short assignment”
Now the turning point. “Erling is feeling good, but Saturday will of course only boil down to a short assignment,” said Rose. Haaland, who has scored nine goals in six league games this season, is therefore also an option for the top German duel with FC Bayern on December 4th. “If he’s on the bus today, if he’s going to Wolfsburg and can possibly come over a short assignment, the week is developing well, then of course he’s ready for action,” said Rose.
The Dortmund coach has to do without midfielder Jude Bellingham against Wolfsburg. “Jude was hit on the knee and has such problems there that we can’t and don’t want to risk anything there,” said Rose. Raphaël Guerreiro’s commitment is still open, Marius Wolf is back in the squad.
