Tyler Herro makes league history with XXL record

After a complicated year, Tyler Herro is proving to his many detractors that he is indeed one of the best young people players NBA… In a role of 6th man, he has notably just broken an XXL record which says a lot about his start to the season.

A few weeks ago, Tyler Herro openly declared to feel at same level as the other young stars of the league like Luka Doncic, Trae Young or Ja Morant… Everyone had laughed at him, but after two weeks of competition, it is clear that he is not that far from the best nuggets. This Tuesday against Dallas, the former Kentucky once again shone.

Tyler Herro best replacement in history?

With 25 points (including 15 in the second quarter), 4 assists and 3 rebounds, the back was once again impressive and important in the Heat’s victory against the Mavericks. Very often criticized last season for his lack of skill and his limits in understanding the game, Tyler Herro is now a complete striker and historical statistics prove it:

Tyler Herro’s 157 points off the bench is the greatest total over a team’s first 7 games. The previous record was 156 for Jason Terry in 2007 and Michael Brooks in 1980.

After 7 games, which remains a very small sample, Tyler Herro is on his way to becoming the most prolific replacement in the history of the league, a feat that could secure him a title of Best 6th Man of the Year. The question now is whether he will be able to continue the whole season at this level, which is far from being won since the defenses should adjust.

And then, whether he succeeds or not, the most important thing is to know how he will react in the playoffs. Very disappointing during the last postseason, like his team, the back will have to put his 22 points if the Heat wants to achieve the feat of returning to the Finals. He is capable of it, he who had been excellent in the bubble, he will only have to repeat the exploits.

Tyler Herro may well become the remplcasting the most prolific in history, which was not necessarily expected on the Heat side. On a season when all the stars are struggling to score, he delights!
