Tom Boonen is increasingly proving that he is also a born winner as a car racer. Together with Sam Dejonghe, he became champion in the prototype class of the Supercar Challenge championship.
Since he stopped cycling in 2017, Tom Boonen has devoted himself passionately to car racing. This season he and Sam Dejonghe defended the colors of Deldiche Racing in the Supercar Challenge across Belgium and the Netherlands.
The denouement of the competition was this weekend in Assen. Boonen and Dejonghe entered the final weekend as leaders and were no longer surprised in their Norma 20FC. Niki Terpstra saw that too. Boonen’s former teammate is also a passionate car enthusiast himself.
Boonen showed on the podium that he has not yet forgotten about winning, where he had his champagne sprayed around in a professional, almost routine way after the Brabançonne.
