The coach of the France basketball team looks back on the victory of the Blues in Hungary on Monday, in qualifying for the 2023 World Cup.
Vincent Collet (coach of the France team, after the success in Hungary ) : «The start of the match puts us on the best track. After that it is normal that there are weak times. We lost our rhythm a bit which caused some loss of ball. We talked about it at half-time and in the third quarter we did the right thing by locking them completely. Physically, they dived afterwards. We really impacted them by our defense. The state of mind rubs off. The players have the will to pass the ball. They are to be congratulated at this level. Faced with their aggressiveness, we have created gaps with a search for the extra pass.
We knew that Hungary was weaker than Montenegro but the superiority, on paper, must be confirmed by a good attitude. Otherwise there is always the risk of an opponent who gains confidence. This group wants to move forward and progress.
