EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- The president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Antonio “Colin” Acosta, pointed out the importance of the athletes who will participate in the first Junior Pan American Games 2021 to be held in Cali, Colombia, from November 25 to November 5 December, which he described as the future of Dominican sport.

“The Dominican Olympic Committee has paid all the attention to these Junior Pan American Games, knowing that these athletes are the future of Dominican sport and they are those who will be in charge of representing the country in the first-order stages of sport at the world ”, expressed the main sports leader of the country when speaking with El Nuevo Diario.

The Dominican delegation, whose flag bearers are Moira Morillo, of judo, and Alexander Ogando, of athletics, is made up of a total of 188 athletes, who will compete in 26 sports, who, according to the president of the COD, have received everything necessary on his way to the appointment to develop in Colombia.

“We have formed a psychologically calm and physically well-prepared delegation,” said Acosta, who gave credit to the efficient work of all those involved in the process prior to the celebration of the games.

“The funds from the Ministry of Sports arrived on time, the government has provided all the facilities and as for the federations, they have been the architects of the preparation, so that our athletes can provide results to the Dominican Republic,” said the veteran man of sport.

The Dominican Olympic movement received 135 million pesos for the preparation and participation of the athletes who will travel to Colombia, an assignment that came in “historic time” and which, according to Acosta, has had to do with the support shown by President Luis Abinader to the sport and for the great work of Minister Francisco Camacho.

“We congratulate and value the willingness of President Luis Abinader, for opening the doors of the National Palace to sports and to the Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, because he has behaved at the level of the sports leader,” said the president of the COD.

Acosta pointed out that, with all the logistical aspects covered, “the athletes have participated in their events, both as blanks and qualifiers and the federations have placed everything that has been in their hands, so that the athletes have an excellent participation, aware of the importance that these games constitute for us ”.

The president of the COD, pointed out that once again the federated and all those involved in the sports leadership have demonstrated the quality of the work they do, evident in the classification they achieved with their athletes in the various competitions.

“We have had, as always, to look for the rankings, where we have demonstrated the quality and preparation of our young people,” said Colin, who pointed out that this is an indicator that the country is well represented and that it will have great results.

“We will sing the notes of the national anthem and raise our national flag,” says Acosta.

The president of the Olympic body, who welcomed Panam Sport’s initiative to hold these youth games, revealed that the mission headquarters, headed by Luis Chanlatte, would leave this Sunday, to complete with the first group that left last Friday, who were They will be in charge of preparing everything for the arrival of the athletes to Colombian soil.
