After the conclusion of the second round in the morning, players in the cut expected to play 18 more holes today, the last before heading home. But the South African weather forecast decided otherwise: due to heavy rainfall around lunchtime the third round of the Joburg Open was discontinued and then permanently canceled. South African Thriston Lawrence, leader at -12 after two laps, was therefore declared the winner of the event and therefore takes the lead in the Race to Dubai.

The three Blues in the cut therefore saw their position in the standings frozen after 36 holes. Frédéric Lacroix (-6) ranks 5th, Julien Brun (-3) twelfth, and Robin Sciot-Siegrist (-1) 32nd. After the cancellation of the SA Open andAlfred Dunhill Championship which were to be held over the next two weeks in South Africa, the next tournament on the DP World Tour so is theAbu Dhabi HSBC Championship, from January 20 to 23.
