San Salvador, Nov 23 (EFE) .- The Legislative Assembly awarded this Tuesday the honorary distinction of ‘Most Merit Sons of El Salvador’ to the beach soccer team in “recognition of their invaluable contributions to the country and the Salvadoran people in the sports field “.
The president of Congress, Ernesto Castro, said during the ceremony that “we are proud to know that you have come face to face with the world powers and have not lowered your head, but have fought, despite any adversity, to put up the name of the country “.
The recognition was given by Castro to the player Heber Ramos on behalf of his teammates and the members of the team’s coaching staff, who also attended the event held during the plenary session of the Congress for this week.
The beach soccer team is one of the most esteemed by the Salvadoran fans due to the humble origins of most of its members and for the fourth place in the 2011 World Cup.
El Salvador has participated in the World Cups in France 2008, Dubai 2009, Italy 2011, Tahiti 2013 and Russia 2021.
