Markelle Fultz has not been spared injury since joining the NBA. After dragging a problem to the shoulder, the number 1 of the 2017 Draft had found a smile on the side of Orlando and even displayed his best standards over the first seven games of last season, until this injury occurred on the 6th. January 2021 which once again put him on the side.
Almost eleven months later, the hour is still recovering even as the president of the franchise, Jeff Weltman, gave good news of his point guard, back in training with the G-League team of the Magic. .
“We sent him to train with Lakeland this week, because they will have more situations than us in the middle of an NBA season. So he starts to move on to that phase where he really starts to get involved in real situations ”, did he declare.
When the Magic evolves at home, Markelle Fultz is also present. He was notably seen participating in a 2-on-2 with Moe Wagner and Ignas Brazdeikis after a training session, then continuing to work with the team’s staff.
“I am very enthusiastic about my situation and where I am going”, he slipped. “This is the next step. When I was first injured it was all about the stages. I knew it would be a long journey, but I was going step by step. Right now, I’m getting back into the bath, taking hits, going back and forth. I am improving my physical condition. Like I said, I feel really good ”.
Each person at his own pace
Still on the question of the stages, the franchise clarified that it would not give a possible return date so as not to put additional pressure on the players or give false hope to the fans …
“I know our fans may be frustrated with some of these elements, but we always want to prioritize them and be as transparent as possible”, added Jeff Weltman. “That said, the way we deal with our injuries has to be in the best interests of our players – that is, they show up every day, they do their job and they need to know.” that the calendars will be in accordance with the result of their work. As for Jonathan Isaac, who is recovering from a similar injury, Jeff Weltman explained that he is not yet at the Markelle Fultz stage and therefore is still waiting to be cleared to resume contact training.
