The National Police Chief Realizes the Dream of a PON Gold-winning Athlete to Become a Police

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has realized Teuku Tegar Abadi’s dream to become a member of the police force.

Tegar is a pole vault athlete who has made Indonesia proud, both at the international and national levels.

In the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua, Tegar managed to get a gold medal.

Listyo gave Tegar the opportunity to become a Bhayangkara Corps soldier through proactive recruitment.

“Yes, Mas Tegar will be visited by my members to be able to enter the police through the proactive recruitment route. Because the Police really need people who have achievements and of course we are happy if Mas Tegar joins us,” said Sigit, quoted from Between, Saturday (11/13/2021).

Listyo also responded to Tegar’s question regarding the opportunity to continue training as an athlete when he entered the National Police.

According to Listyo, Tegar is allowed to continue to make achievements by practicing when he was a police officer.

“I make sure that Mas Tegar’s activities will continue to be developed, we want Mas Tegar to become a police officer, as well as to represent the police to carry the name of the institution in the national and international arena. We certainly support that,” he said.

Not stopping there, Listyo ensured that Tegar would not have to worry about being charged fees related to the proactive recruitment.

He stressed the whole recruitment process is free of charge. If later in the process Tegar is asked for money by an individual, the former Police Chief of Criminal Investigation Unit asked to report to Propam.

“So I make sure no one pays for the police entry,” he said.

“Later, if there is such information, it can be reported to Propam, we will process it later. It is an individual. What is clear is that entering the police is all free, the important thing is having the ability, having achievements,” Listyo said.

On that occasion, Listyo congratulated Tegar, for breaking the pole vault record.

Sigit asked Tegar to keep practicing in order to prepare for the competition in next year’s SEA Games.

Sigit also listens to Tegar’s daily story, who helps his father in the fields to plant corn and tomatoes.

Regarding this, Sigit conveyed to Tegar that when he officially became a police officer he was allowed to continue to help his father in the fields.

“Later, if it becomes a policy, you can still plant tomatoes again,” said Sigit.

At the end of the conversation with Tegar, Sigit stated that the proactive recruitment process will be taken care of by his staff. He asked Tegar to continue to practice and maintain his health.

“Okay, welcome to join, someone will contact you later. The important thing is to stay healthy. Keep practicing. Greetings to parents. Thank you very much, said Sigit.
