FC Südtirol suffered a minor setback in the fight for promotion to Serie B. The white-reds had to be content with a draw in the top game against Feralpisaló. For a long time, the signs were pointing to victory.

Former coach Stefano Vecchi, who coached FC Südtirol until the summer and is now on the sidelines at Feralpisaló, can stop FC Südtirol’s triumphant advance. After 6 successes in a row, the FCS did not go beyond a 1-1 draw against the Gardasee kickers – after a late goal in the 86th minute. Because the table runner-up Renate won 1-0 at Giana Erminio at the same time, the lead of the white-reds at the top of the table shrank to 5 points.

The FCS initially found it difficult to get going in the local Drusus Stadium. After the nice opening goal from Jeremie Broh (14th), the white-reds then became increasingly stronger and could have increased the result several times in the first half. In the second half, however, the guests determined the game. The FCS only concentrated on defending and conceded the goal to make it 1: 1 shortly before the end.

At FCS there were again 3 South Tyroleans in the starting line-up on Sunday: Manuel Fischnaller, Fabian Tait and Simone Davi. The latter was preferred to Alessandro Fabbri in the left-back position. After Fischnaller and Broh were replaced due to injuries, Davi moved into midfield.

On Wednesday (5.30 p.m.), FC Südtirol will continue in the Serie C Italian Cup. Then the Javorcic squad will meet Teramo away from home.

The highlights

  • Out of nowhere, Jeremie Broh puts FC Südtirol in the lead after 14 minutes. The midfielder takes heart from around 20 meters and hits the short corner.
  • After just under half an hour, Manuel Fischnaller has a great chance of making it 2-0. But the striker from Signat, who comes to a free end after a standard situation, fails from 5 meters from the visiting goalkeeper.
  • After the opening goal, the FCS has definitely taken command. Only a short time after the Fischnaller-Chance there is the next possibility by Fabian Tait, who fails after a nice combination over Daniele Casiraghi and Fischnaller at the goalkeeper.
  • Feralpisaló comes out of the locker better. After a high ball, the referee sees no foul on FCS goalkeeper Giacomo Poluzzi, so the guests have a good chance to score.
  • In the 80th minute, the guests come to another option. But a deflected shot in the penalty area just misses the housing.
  • In the 85th minute, the guests shoot the deserved equalizer. Poluzzi saves a shot to the side. Davide Balestrero is spot on and scores 1: 1.
