The Clippers push the Spurs a little more | NBA

Dominated by the Bulls this weekend, the Clippers resume their march forward with a rather easy success against the Spurs (106-92). A few accelerators allowed Paul George’s teammates to make the difference. First at the end of the first quarter with Isaiah Hartenstein, still as opportunistic near the circle.

Then, it’s Luke Kennard who drives home with a superb move to the head of the racket, followed in the wake of a 3-point (35-26). Dejounte Murray may be everywhere, the Clippers have got their hands on the game, and Reggie Jackson is responsible for passing the gap to +10 (44-34). But Murray insists, and at the break, the Spurs are only four points behind (57-53).

Confirmation on return from the locker room with Derrick White who gives the advantage to Spurs. Paul George is lonely, and it is once again the bench that will make the difference with rookie Brandon Boston Jr. and Amir Caffey. Between the end of the 3rd quarter and the start of the 4th quarter, they signed a 17-2 to take a 15 point lead (86-71). The Spurs will try everything to come back to the score, and it is Reggie Jackson who will knock them out with two 3-pointers in a row for a final victory 106-92.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

The enthusiasm of the bench. Nicolas Batum declined and Reggie Jackson awkward, the Clippers needed an X factor, and it was the bench that brought it in. We know the effectiveness of Hartenstein, and he was supported by a very interesting Brandon Boston Jr. and Amir Caffey. Gregg Popovich didn’t have the weapons to answer.

The active hands of Spurs. To hinder the Clippers, Pop had asked for all-terrain pressure, but also to hinder the ball transmissions. If San Antonio has long been in contact, it is thanks to the interceptions and easy baskets on the counterattack. Murray had a great time, multiplying lay-ups and dunks.

Reggie Jackson, the air conditioner. The Spurs believed in the heist, erasing an 18-point deficit to drop to -9 with five minutes remaining. Moment chosen by Jackson to forget his awkwardness with two 3-point bombs. In two minutes, the gap goes back to +17. Mass has been said.

The Clippers’ half-field defense. When it runs, the Clippers have trouble … But on half-court, their defense is remarkable. The Spurs register only 39 points in the second half, and the absence of interiors (Poeltl and Landale absent) prevents any alternation. Tyronn Lue put up a really solid defense on the half court.

TOPS/FLOPS

Paul George. This is the Clippers’ comprehensive insurance. He plays pretty fair, doesn’t pull the blanket towards him, and when it comes to a big basket, he takes it and puts it on. Like this nice move before half-time ended with a baseline fadeaway. It’s great Paul George since the start of the season, and tonight, he made up for his awkwardness at 3-points by drives to get shots.

Dejounte murray. We understand why Popovich wants him to play 48 minutes. He does everything and well! All in a very “cool” style, all in control. He’s missing a new triple-double for a pass, and he’s been constantly looking to motivate his teammates and raise. A real leader, even if there is waste.

Brandon Boston Jr. Nice pick in the second round for the Clippers with this pure attacker who is not afraid of anything. If the Clippers spent an evening finally quiet, it is thanks to his heat stroke at the end of the 3rd quarter. Aggression and nerve. This is the key for a rookie to get noticed.

Nicolas batum. We didn’t recognize Batum. Slow and borrowed, and finally, he only played 14 minutes. In fact, the Frenchman suffers from an Achilles tendon, and Tyronn Lue preferred to spare him. It must be said that “Batman” remained on two meetings at 35 and 37 minutes, and that one should not pull on the rope too much. Or rather the tendon.

Lonnie Walker. With the exception of his magnificent lay-up by passing the ball behind his back, the winger showed nothing. This is becoming worrying, especially as the Spurs are down, and there is playing time and responsibilities to be taken.
