The bad week of Amatori Savona ends with a defeat: Battipaglia wins at Palapagnini

Savona. Third setback for Amatori Pallacanestro Savona, the first within the walls of the house. Coach Dagliano’s girls had arrived for a week characterized by the double knockout away from San Giovanni Valdarno and Civitanova Marche.

The APS seems to start with the right determination, with Paleari hitting the opponents cold after a few seconds from the two-ball with a triple. The first minutes of study between the two teams allow the host team to understand how to close the Savona game sources: Milani sticks to Sansalone and Potolicchio thinks of putting points to report. In the middle of the first quarter Savona is thus found below by 5 points and only a time-out allows the local girls to clear their minds and find the way to the basket more consistently: Salvestrini’s three-point game and Zanetti’s baskets in penetration give breath to the red and white who, however, often allow easy shots in Battipaglia. At the end of the first partial the score is in perfect equality, 19-19.

Second quarter dominated by the Campania team, with Potolicchio and Logoh continuing to find effective shooting solutions, moreover, the “all-field” pressure commanded by coach Maslarinos brings the desired results, with APS failing to build up actions and lose balls after balls. The ease in collecting offensive rebounds forces the Ligurians to send their opponents to the line with continuity who thus dig the furrow that will then be irrecoverable: there are eleven lead times two minutes from the end of the quarter. Five points from Paleari and two from Tyutyundzhieva make the interval less bitter; at the mid-game siren 30-36 for Battipaglia.

The second half of the match sees APS more active in the defensive phase and more concrete in attack; the technical level of the match increases and a phase begins in which the two teams chase each other in the score, Zanetti, Salvestrini and Sansalone find effective solutions after well-constructed actions while for Battipaglia the usual Potolicchio, Milani and Seka work well both from long distance and from under the basket. The result at the end of the quarter is 44-52.

In the last quarter the APS gives all the remaining energy and tries to recover the points that separate her from the opponents, Zanetti and Tyutyundzhieva hit the target in the first minutes and shorten the distance (-4). The box and one defense limits Potolicchio’s offensive sorties, so the 2004 Milani class takes care of extinguishing the hopes of the red and white by sending three triples to the target. keep Battipaglia at a safe distance and allow you to get to the last siren on +13. Final result: Amateurs Basketball Savona 54, Battipaglia 67.

For the captain of the APS Alice Sansalone: “It is normal that in a long and balanced championship like this there may be subdued periods, the important thing is to clear your head and try to learn from the difficulties to be even more ready for the next challenges”.
