Arminia Bielefeld is waiting for the first win of the season even after ten games. After the defeat against Mainz, many fans demanded that coach Frank Kramer be expelled. But the club’s management is still convinced that they are on the right track.

Et are the questions that a trainer can hardly answer. For Frank Kramer, however, they did not come as a surprise. “Of course nobody likes to hear something like that, but you have to accept it with caution,” said the coach of Arminia Bielefeld when he was asked about the clearly audible “Kramer out” calls. For him, according to the 49-year-old, it is all about “working against it in order to get out of this spiral.”

The spiral is a negative trend in relation to East Westphalia, which has solidified with a 1: 2 (1: 1) defeat against Mainz 05. Arminia has not won a single one of its ten Bundesliga games this season. There has never been such a bad start to a Bundesliga season, the last time there were ten winless Bundesliga games in a row in 2008/09 – and in the end the last relegation from the House of Lords had been.

The fear of the fans is therefore quite understandable and it is not even denied by the people in charge at Bielefeld. Nevertheless: Anything else would also be bold. In any case, there will be no course correction. On the contrary: the increasing anti-sentiment against the coach is not an issue at all for the club management.

“The coach question does not arise at all at the moment”

“We don’t let ourselves be influenced,” said sports director Samir Arabi on Sunday: “I am concerned with the mood in the team. The team must be a conspiratorial bunch and defend themselves against resistance. ”She continues to do so. The coach question is therefore “not at all at the moment.”

Arabi and CFO Markus Rejek are still convinced that they will continue on the path they have embarked on with Kramer. Part of the current problems, however, stem precisely from this. Kramer had been brought in last March – at short notice to ensure that he would stay in class. That succeeded. The strategic consideration, however, was to carry out a personnel change with a new, conceptually working trainer. As expected, this turned out to be difficult. 18 professionals left the DSC, 13 new ones came.

Even goalkeeper Ortega fails

That turned out to be a mortgage, at least with regard to the start of the second game year after returning to the Bundesliga. There is a problem with the team that has not yet really found each other. Additions such as Guilherme Ramos, Robin Hack, Florian Krüger, Alessandro Schöpf, Bryan Lasme and Janni Sera have not yet been able to meet the expectations placed on them.

Mainz 05 wrestles Bielefeld in a gripping cup game. Fabian Klos saves Arminia in extra time at the last minute, but then Marcus Ingvartsen hits back with a dream goal for Mainz. The highlights in the video.

In addition, well-established top performers repeatedly make mistakes, especially in the last few games. On Saturday both goals conceded resulted from blackouts: First goalkeeper Stefan Ortega let a shot from Karim Onisiwo ricochet off, which Jae-Sung Lee was able to use to make it 0-1 (25th). Then, after the Arminen had fought their way back into the game, central defender Amos Pieper made a catastrophic back pass, which Jonathan Burkardt was able to exploit to make it 2-1 (69th).

Kramer will den „Turnaround“

What is encouraging, despite all the blows in the neck, is the fact that the team is still not falling apart. Arabi and Rejek take this as an indication that the internal relationship between coach and team is still intact. Kramer was determined to continue working for a turnaround. “Everyone can be sure that I will do everything I can to achieve the turnaround,” he said. With regard to the away game at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday, he announced that he would work on both football and group dynamics content.

The coach question would not arise, Arabi said on Sunday, even if there was not the long-awaited result in Stuttgart. In Bielefeld, they are still very convinced of their path, which is rare in the Bundesliga.
