Serie A: Roma win 2-0 at Genoa thanks to their Ghanaian joker Felix Afena-Gyan

José Mourinho was well inspired. With a quarter of an hour of the end of the match between Genoa and Roma on Sunday on behalf of the 13th day of Serie A, the Portuguese coach launched the 18-year-old Ghanaian Felix Afena-Gyan. And the latter has changed this match that the Romans have long sterilely dominated.

On an offering from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the best Giallorosso of the evening, Afena-Gyan scored his first goal in the top flight for his third appearance, with a dry shot (82nd). The second arrived a few moments later, in added time, with a superb wrapped shot (90 + 4th).

Roma remains 5th

So far, under a sometimes intense rain, Roma had tried a lot but little succeeded in soliciting Salvatore Sirigu, like the failure of nearly Eldor Shomurodov (28th) and the many attempts not framed by Mkhitaryan, preferred to Nicolo Zaniolo (50th, 70th, 74th). This victory allows Roma to bounce back from two defeats (Milan and Venice) and keep 5th place in the standings, ten points behind co-leaders Naples and AC Milan.

Andriy Shevchenko, for his first match as coach of Genoa, may regret the great opportunity missed by his team, when Stefano Sturaro stumbled on Rui Patrico (71st). Genoa remains 18th and first relegation.
