A new international medal arrived this morning for El Salvador. In Salvadoran weightlifter, Herbert Aceituno, got a silver medal in the World Parapowerlifting Championship, which takes place in Georgia. Aceituno, who had traveled to that country last week, competed in the category of up to 59 kilograms and was only surpassed by the representative of Egypt, Oman Sherif.
In third place was the competitor from Chile, Juan Carlos Garrido. In this way, Aceituno fulfilled a new international event and raised the name of El Salvador.
“Very happy to achieve the goal, after hard work with Jorge López (his coach), it is a new feat and thanks to the people who believe in us,” said Aceituno after being awarded.
Aceituno is currently the highest representative of El Salvador in the Paralympic category. He has previously won a gold medal in the Pan American Games and a bronze in the Paralympics, in the previous edition of Tokyo 2021.
