Saint Louis gets $ 790 million from the NFL

The city and county of Saint Louis has secured $ 790 million from Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke and the NFL to settle a lawsuit over the organization’s move.

This was announced by the two entities in a joint statement released on Wednesday.

Obtained in mediation, this settlement puts an end to proceedings that have spread over four and a half years. In 2017, a $ 1 billion lawsuit was filed by the City of Saint Louis, the County of Saint Louis and the Saint Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority.

She claimed that the Rams’ move to California deprived the region of millions of dollars in various taxes, that the club lied about its intentions and that the NFL broke its own relocation rules.

The circuit and the team disproved the matter, saying that no rule was set in stone and that the league had the right to relocate a team if it was in the best interests of the NFL and its owners.

The Rams left Saint Louis on January 12, 2016 to return to Los Angeles, where the club first moved in 1946.

At this time, details of the deal have not been made public. We do not know what will be the share of the amount that will be spent by Kroenke and the other owners of the circuit.
