The Frenchman was voted defensive player of the year by the Bleu-Blanc-Noir during the team’s end-of-season assessment on Tuesday. However, his contract expired on December 31 and the two parties preferred not to continue their agreement, after four campaigns.

Camacho had his best season by far in 2021, having become a real fixture in the central hinge after a few years of adaptation. He played 34 games in all competitions this year, receiving three red cards.

The 30-year-old has also found offensive instincts at good times, amassing three goals and one assist this season.

“Thank you for all of Montreal. My adventure ends today. […] You now have one more supporter among you. Go Montreal, ”Camacho wrote on his Instagram account on Thursday.

«[J’ai] the feeling of having given everything [sic] in good times and in bad times. I feel at home here, I discovered a wonderful culture, amazing people [sic] and made myself [sic] many friends.”

The rear left no clue about his next destination. Before joining Montreal, he played with the Waasland-Beveren club, in Belgium.
