The Boston Red Sox protected Colombian infielder Jeter Downs on their roster of 40 this weekend and he will be added to the MLB roster through the Rule 5 Draft.
Downs came to the Boston organization in the trade that sent star Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers and has since been hailed as one of the best prospects in the major leagues. Before 2021, he was the 71st promise of the majors, according to Baseball America, and 49th, according to MLB.

The Colombian hit .190 / .272 / .333 with 14 homers and 18 stolen bases in 405 Triple-A appearances last season.
