Record champions apparently imposed drastic penalties for unvaccinated players

The German record champions are apparently taking action: According to a report, the quarantine for unvaccinated players now also has financial consequences. Above all for national player Joshua Kimmich.

Does the FC Bayern now consistently in the case of his unvaccinated players? The “Bild” now reports: The German record champions have informed all players who last had to be quarantined: There is no retroactive salary for this quarantine week. This is possible thanks to an ordinance issued by the City of Munich on November 1, which says: Employees are not entitled to a quarantine-related loss of earnings if this quarantine results from an unvaccinated status.

That would be a financial hammer for the stars of the record champions. National player Joshua Kimmich – as is known, still unvaccinated – would lose 384,000 euros per week, the “Bild” calculates. And the 26-year-old has already been quarantined twice.

So the Bavarian management wants to set an example and increase the pressure to be protected against the corona virus by vaccination. In addition to Kimmich, after a positive test by defender Niklas Süle before the international match against Liechtenstein, Bayern and DFB teammates Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry as well as striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had to go into quarantine – all of them were contact persons for Süle. Kimmich, Gnabry, Musiala, Choupo-Moting and Michael Cuisance are considered unvaccinated.

According to the “Bild” report, these players were quoted in the Bayern office on Thursday morning, where they were informed of the decision. The players were “surprised” by the club’s move. Accordingly, the club bosses around CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic emphasized: The players have the right not to be vaccinated – but the club as an employer also has the right not to pay a salary in the quarantine case. The rest of the team supported the measure.
