RCA: opening of the Koudoukou school basketball court in Bangui

Bangui, Nov. 26, 21 (Corbeaunews – Centrafrique) – The French logistics mission in Bangui is financing the reconstruction of the basketball court at Koudoukou school, in the third district of Bangui. The laying of the foundation stone took place on Tuesday 23 November 2021 by the Commander-in-Chief of the Mislog, Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas DEBESSE.

The deputy of the first constituency of the third district of Bangui, the honorable Mahamat Zacari Yaou talks about the importance of this playground for the youth of the third district:

“Today, seeing the work started is a relief for us. You know, I have a double hat. I am your deputy for the first constituency of the third arrondissement, at the same time a member of the veterans’ club of the third arrondissement. We have long called for the return of peace to the third arrondissement through sport. But the only problem, we only have one land. We have since requested funding for the construction of the second lot. So on August 24, 2021, we called the French logistics mission department to request their support for the construction of a new site after all the problems the country has experienced. We need a new playground for reconciliation. This is how the French logistics mission gave us its agreement a week later. I would like to thank the French logistics department as well as the veterans’ club, ”said deputy Mahamat. Zacari Yaou.

Taking the floor, Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas DEBESSE wished to underline the symbolic character of the place as well as its importance for Central African youth.

« The KOUDOUKOU school bears the name of an illustrious Central African officer engaged in the French army. This hero fought in the ranks of the French army during World War I and II with honor and courage for a better and free world. The MISLOG-Bangui headquarters building bears his name. May his courage, his sense of values and his selflessness inspire the children of the school which proudly bears his name.

This first stone that we are going to symbolically lay together seals our common desire to work for Central African youth. As you know, the detachment of liaison and contact to the population of MISLOG-Bangui works daily for the benefit of the population and in particular of the youth in order to participate in the development of the Central African Republic ”, hammers Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Debesse.

According to him, « The French soldiers help to federate the youth thanks to sporting values. These values which unite the young people of Bangui through hardships and which allow them to surpass themselves or even surpass themselves. It is in the effort that a nation is built, we must rely only on ourselves and not on others to overcome and face the trials which can sometimes seem insurmountable to us. This basketball court will be yours, it will be a gathering place for all the sportsmen of the 3rd arrondissement ”.

The opening of this basketball court to the public is expected in a week, according to the deputy Mahamat Zacari Yaou.
