Professionals face a huge fine and suspension for vaccination card fraud

The pandemic is shaking up the sports world again. In order to prevent a major corona outbreak, the organizers of the Australian Open recently announced that only vaccinated tennis professionals are allowed to participate. Such guidelines could also apply to other tournaments.

The ATP Board now wants to crack down on counterfeit vaccination cards in the tennis circus. The players’ association is not responsible for the Grand Slams, but for numerous other tournaments such as the ATP Cup at the beginning of January 2022. If a player competes there with a forged vaccination certificate, a fine of up to 100,000 US dollars is expected. In addition, a ban of up to three years could be imposed. It is still open whether the proposal will be implemented.
