Erman Kunter, who was nominated for the presidency in the ordinary general assembly to be held on Thursday, November 4, in the Turkish Basketball Federation, said that they decided to candidacy for change.
In a statement to the AA correspondent, Kunter stated that the election work was going well for them and said, “There are two candidates, Harun Erdenay and Hidayet Türkoğlu. Both were presidents of the federation. Both were tried. The point where basketball has come is in the square, we are here for change. We want to bring basketball back to its old days.” said.
Stating that they talked to all basketball workers, whether they were delegates or not, Kunter said:
“When we look at the point basketball has reached at the moment, we do not see any success. Our women’s and men’s national teams have regressed in European and world rankings. “This is the most important deficiency. Clubs work like ants and spend effort. There are managers who spend money out of their own pocket if necessary. The common opinion of all is that they cannot find an addressee. This can be solved very easily. Extravagance is a big problem. The consultants of the Basketball Federation or the monthly income of only one of the people working at various levels in Turkey. A lot can be done in the field. Transparency is the most important issue, everyone wants to know the events. If we were transparent, it would not be possible to be extravagant, people would react. We have complaints about merit. Most of the people working on the field are stepping aside. There are important workers in Anatolia, these are the ants of basketball. , they are disabled.”

Explaining that there is no transparency and productivity drops in an environment of extravagance, Kunter expressed that it is necessary to touch all basketball workers.
Emphasizing that their projects are ready to solve the problems, Kunter said, “We have many projects. We need to enlarge the pool of young players. We cannot say, ‘This is our first project.’ We think of incentives. Clubs that train players from the infrastructure are the apple of our eye, we will discriminate against them. Those clubs need to be present in order to raise basketball again.” made its assessment.

The referees have lost their confidence in themselves, and the trust of the clubs has also disappeared. We need to deal with this. The coordinator of each league will be different.
