The roads of Portugalete and Aitor Cuenca have separated. The jarrillera entity has officially communicated that the left back is no longer a first team player. The footballer and the club have terminated the contract by mutual agreement, leaving him free to start a new journey away from Florida. “From the club we thank you for the work you have done and we wish you the best of luck in your next projects,” reads the statement.

Aitor Cuenca was trained in the lower categories of Athletic and Danok Bat until he reached the quarry of Deportivo Alavés. The babazorro club gave him so that the Bilbao man lived his first experience as a senior at the Somorrostro two seasons ago, where he had a great role. Last season he played for the Alava third team, San Ignacio, also in the Third Division. He played thirteen games being an important piece since the arrival of Bittor Llopis to the bench. This summer, Portugalete decided to take over the services of the 21-year-old left-back.

However, it has not been a fruitful incorporation for either party. Aitor Cuenca was announced as a new jarrillero signing on July 17 and, just four months later, he will have to head to another destination. The young footballer has seen his time in Florida frustrated due to an injury to the anterior rectum suffered in the preseason and has not played a single minute in Third RFEF with the gualdinegra jacket. Therefore, the club and the player have decided to end their bond. Portugalete now have two free chips after the termination of this left-back and Álvaro Fernández a few weeks ago.
