Pep Ribas challenges the election of the new president of the Federation

On Saturday a Permanent Training Classroom (AFP) course took place in the martial arts room of Sant Antoni. These AFP courses are preparatory to achieving the black belt in judo or later danes. The class consisted of two technical sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon with a total of six teaching hours.

The course was taught by the Director of the Federative Judo School, Ponç Gelabert, highest grade in the Balearic Islands, eighth dan; Llorenç Gayà, fifth dan, European kata champion and fourth in the world; and the head of the Federative School in Ibiza, Vicente Ramón, seventh dan. In addition, the president of the Balearic Judo Federation, Miguel Ángel Bisquerra, was present, who together with Gelabert formed the examining court duo.

During the afternoon session, the exams for those who chose to go up the grade took place. A total of nine judokas (five from Ibiza and four from Mallorca) obtained the first dan black belt. In addition, Diego Parra Madrigal obtained the fourth dan black belt pass and, finally, Udoka Sunday obtained the sixth dan of judo, which entails the change of belt color to white-red of the great masters of this martial art.

The Superior Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands has accepted the administrative dispute raised by the former president of the Balearic Shooting Federation with Honda, Pep Ribas, who intends to challenge the election of the new president.

In the appeal Ribas maintains that there have been a “series of irregularities” in the process. Ribas was president of the Balearic Shooting Federation with Honda between 2012 and 2015 and between 2016 and 2020.

He was dismissed in December 2020, by resolution of the General Directorate of Sports. The extraordinary assembly for the election of the new president is scheduled for Saturday 27.

Ribas pointed out that he understood that there were “irregularities” and did not want to participate in the call, which he considers was forced from the Ministry. Thus, with the appeal, Ribas intends to reverse the Sports resolution.

Ribas explained that he has hired a team of lawyers specialized in sports law issues. After seeing that there was “no type of rapprochement” he chose to file the appeal with the TSJIB.

Ribas assured that the Government “has a dubious performance in some of its departments, which are opaque and that in some cases they do not respect the rights of citizens as they should be in a democratic country.”
