Olympic medalist PV Sindhu to run for BWF Athletes’ Commission again

Two-time Olympic Games medalist and Indian badminton player PV Sindhu will stand for re-election for the World Badminton Federation (BWF) Athletes’ Commission in Huelva, Spain on December 17.

“World champion and two-time Olympic medalist Pusarla V. Sindhu is the only current member of the Athletes’ Commission to be re-elected. Nine candidates have been appointed for the six available positions, ”BWF said in a statement.

Sindhu hasn’t been in her best form lately and withdrew from the Indonesia Masters last week in the semifinals, losing to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in a one-sided game.

Women’s doubles specialist and Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Greysia Polii of Indonesia is also running for office.

“I would like to help my teammates realize their dreams and help them with their demands regarding competition on the international circuit,” Polii said after his appointment.
