Nothing works for her without judo – Heitersheim

The 14-year-old Salome Steinebrunner from Heitersheim is the South German champion in her age group.

At the South German individual championship FU15 in Abensberg, Bavaria, 14-year-old Salome Steinebrunner took first place. The judoka from TV Heitersheim won every fight early with Ippon – and has thus achieved the highest that can be achieved in her age group. Now she can call herself a South German master.

At home in my parents’ living room it is quiet and cozy. It smells of coffee, a small angel figure stands on the kitchen table, real chickens cackle in the garden. Salome Steinebrunner hops around the table with long brown hair, sits down, takes a small sip of coffee from a green porcelain cup. Often she is no longer here. She had worked on her parents for months, with success: Since September the student has been living with seven other talented athletes in a sports boarding school in the city of Karlsruhe, which is located on the top floor of the hotel “Am Gottesauer Schloss”. The judoka from Heitersheim learned about the boarding school during a course and was immediately enthusiastic. “Judo is my life. I don’t know what to do without judo,” enthuses the 14-year-old happily.

In the morning just put a little horn in your hand and off you go to the Otto Hahn Gymnasium in Karlsruhe, an elite school of sports, and then of course: Judo, Judo, Judo. Immediately the mother asks whether she is eating enough and what about the buffet in the hotel? Salome simply smiles away her mother’s worries, they both smile. In Karlsruhe there is daily training, sometimes even before class. The school demands a lot of personal responsibility. The afternoon training then goes to the Budo Club. They are looked after at the boarding school by Fabian Schley, who works closely with the parents and is responsible for the students in Karlsruhe.

As a three-year-old, Salome Steinebrunner was already watching his older brother Lukas play judo. The then trainer Raimo Klz quickly recognized her talent and promoted her together with other trainers from TV Heitersheim. With coach Markus Keil and the successful judoka Philip Mller, Salome Steinebrunner managed to win the competition at the U15 state championships in Freiburg. She continued to train and fight, and when she took part in the South German championship, she climbed onto the podium again.

During the week she lives in the sports boarding school

The student is ambitiously following her path and took part in the 28th Mario Kwiat Memorial Tournament. This nationwide viewing tournament in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia, was designed for the older generation of the U18 age group, but Salome Steinebrunner was also able to show her skills. Her goal was to win one fight, but she could win three fights. Under the eyes of the national coach, Sandra Klinger, she fought for fifth place.

The student will not get bored. The next competition is just outside the door, the bag for the way back to Karlsruhe on Sunday is already ready. But one day her mother’s pupil stayed, who not only missed her daughter’s good mood, but also her piano playing. This hobby is neglected in Karlsruhe and mum can look forward to the melodies of her daughter, which sound at least on weekends through the house.
