Wil Myers is a professional baseball outfielder for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball. However, in his spare time and in the off season, he is an avid golfer. He and his wife, Margaret, were playing in Charlotte, North Carolina. However, they were not happy with their club due to the growing crowd and decided to leave.
Then, in April 2020, they joined the Carmel Country Club. However, as the restrictions on covid-19 were relaxed, crowds flocking to the courtyards overwhelmed them. As a result, members like Myers struggled to book tee times, and that’s where the problem started.

Wil Myers chased by the club, counter-sues them
To become a member, an initial deposit of $ 16,000 is required on the initiation fee of $ 80,000, while the remainder is paid on future membership anniversaries. However, just months after joining, in December 2020, the couple resigned on the grounds that they had been “misled” by the club.
According to official court statements, Myers “found it almost impossible to find a tee time and couldn’t even use the driving range often”. However, after their resignation, the Carmel Country Club billed the duo the remaining initiation fee of $ 64,000, due by the end of the month. When not respected, they sued Myers in March 2021.
Two months later, the MLB star counterattacked the club, citing “misrepresentation and omissions” on their part. They said the club had concealed how difficult it was to have tee time on the course and failed to mention this during the initiation phase. In retaliation, however, referring to the covid-19 pandemic, the club said it had “changed the lifestyles and leisure activities available to all club members”.
