NBA News – Next Coach Dismissal? Rockets are probably weighing the future with coach Silas

Stephen Silas is sitting on a shaky chair after the Houston Rockets (2-16) had a poor start to the season. The top floor of the Rockets is said to have already discussed the future of the 48-year-old.

According to a report by Bleacher Report the Rockets front office is dissatisfied with the team’s performance. Even if the franchise is in a rebuild, Houston lost 15 games in a row before there was a sense of achievement against the Bulls on Thursday night.

Last Sunday, Luke Walton, the Sacramento Kings’ first head coach of this season, was relieved of his post. But compared to the Kings, there are no playoff expectations with the Texans, instead young talents like Jalen Green or Kevin Porter Jr. should take the next step.

“He is in a difficult position,” an anonymous assistant general manager was quoted as saying. “Silas is one of the nicest people in the NBA, he really cares about the people. Putting him there with a few young players who are all about their stats and playing time just doesn’t fit.”

Originally, Silas wasn’t even hired for a rebuild. When the Rockets were looking for a new coach under former General Manager Daryl Morey in the summer of 2020, the candidates had to meet with James Harden and Russell Westbrook – both are no longer in Houston, and neither is Morey, who holds the post in Philadelphia GM clothed.

The current Rockets GM Rafael Stone signed Silas in the hope of being able to convince Harden to stay. However, the 2018 MVP only played eight games under Silas before being traded to the Nets.

Houston is the weakest offensive team in the league, with an offensive rating of 98.1, the Texans are in last place, and the Rockets are also at the bottom in the assist-to-turnover ratio (1.09). Should there be a dismissal, John Lucas is considered a hot candidate for the interim post.
