Muan·Wando·Shinan County Athletic Association prepares the foundation for a virtuous cycle of sports

Muan-gun, Wando-gun, and Shinan-gun Sports Association were finally selected for the 3rd public sports club competition in 2021.

The Jeonnam Sports Association announced on the 9th that the Muan-gun, Wando-gun, and Shinan-gun Sports Associations were finally selected in the 3rd competition for the new comprehensive public sports club in 2021 by the Korea Sports Council.

The three counties are small and medium-sized cities with a population of less than 200,000. Muan-gun applied for baseball, golf, and badminton, Wando-gun applied for badminton, table tennis, tennis, and Shinan-gun applied for gateball, ground golf, and badminton. 6 billion will be provided for the project.

After five years, self-reliance is promoted through membership dues and corporate sponsorship.

The public sports club is a system for fostering advanced public clubs and establishing the foundation for a virtuous cycle of sports through the linkage development of school, life, and elite sports.

Jeonnam Sports President Kim Jae-moo said, “I sincerely congratulate you on the final selection of a comprehensive public sports club in Muan-gun, Wando-gun, and Shinan-gun following Jangseong, Hwasun, and Jangheung-gun this year. Through this, we expect that it will greatly contribute to the efficient use of these activities, such as enhancing the participation of local residents in sports activities, nurturing excellent athletes, and providing jobs for retired athletes and sports coaches.”

Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Sports Association has a total of 19 comprehensive sports clubs (operating 3 or more sports) out of 124 sports clubs nationwide.
